Fitness could be an issue for Amanjena, Short Affair and Laughter on their seasonal reappearance, so the percentage call could be Lady Jane Digby, who looks almost certain to run her usual honest race.
Lady Jane Digby enjoyed a productive all-weather campaign this winter, winning twice over a mile-and-a-quarter, and she transferred her improvement back to turf when second at Hamilton last time. She should run her race again, but is vulnerable to an improver.
Tactful was an impressive winner of her first two starts on polytrack and put in respectable efforts when stepped up to listed company since. She promises to stay this far, but has to prove herself as effective on turf.
Laughter made a big impression when winning a seven furlong maiden at Leicester. She reportedly strained muscles in her back when stepped up to Group company last time, and is not overburdened on her handicap debut here.
Amanjena made gradual improvement in varying company as a juvenile, signing off with a win in a mile-and-a-quarter minor event at Ascot in September. She is well treated on that and her yard is in resonable form on her return.
Short Affair was a winner on her debut at two and has been in the frame most starts since. She makes her debut for her new stable here, but has no easy task at these weights and it is possible she could need the run.
Just Lille put in easily her best effort this term when second over this trip at Ripon last month, but she ran a bit flat last time, and has yet to win off a mark this high.
Suzi Spends progressed in all-weather handicaps last year, making full use of her turn of foot to win 3 times. There are signs she had at least translated some of that improvement back to turf on her return and she is not out of this.
Amanda Carter was an mproved performer in 2008, winning three times at up to a mile-and-a-half and she was a good third at Pontefract on her return, but she was a long way adrift of Lady Jane Digby last time and has something to prove now.
