The coffers for this column are so dry in the day before Cheltenham that we’re considering recording another cover version of Downtown in the hope of raising some funds.
‘The calm before the storm’ is a line that will be spun out time and time again in the couple of days leading up to the Cheltenham Festival. We’ll leave that particular clichĂ© and the hyperbole to others for now and simply concentrate on our three selections for Sunday.
Wolverhampton on Saturday plays host to two of the most competitive all-weather handicaps seen for a while, but consider it a sign of things to come with the likes of the Pertemps, the Coral Cup and the Grand Annual just around the corner. Following an indifferent week, the Free Form Service have had a crack at the two contests and hope to have unearthed a big-priced winner in the sprint.
