Dozens of NASCAR team haulers will congregate on the Las Vegas Strip to kick off the 2010 NASCAR Weekend Celebrations and parade down one of the country’s most famous streets. The 2010 NASCAR Hauler Parade will take place on Thursday, February 25th at Las Vegas Strip beginning at 6 p.m  The event will showcase approximately 60 to 75 18-wheelers that carry the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series race cars and equipment to the tracks.

The colorful parade will kick off at 6:00 pm on Las Vegas Boulevard, and parade for approximately five miles on Sahara Avenue before returning to Interstate 15 to head to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in preparation for the weekend events.

Racing events will begin on Thursday, Feruary 25th, at the Dirt Track with the USAC Sprint Car and Midget racing. Gates will open at 3 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m. The action will continue on February 26th with the 2010 Sam’s Town 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series and Shelby American qualifying sessions, followed by World of Outlaws Sprint Car racing at the Dirt Track at LVMS at 7:00 p.m.

The 2010 Sam’s Town 300 will start at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 27th, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Shelby American will take the green flag at noon on Sunday, February 28th. Sports Illustrated models and rockers Maroon 5 will be in Las Vegas next week to unveil the cover and celebrate the launch of the 2010 S.I swimsuit edition with a series of exclusive parties, live shows and public appearances at several locations throughout the city. The events are organized by Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which recently signed a three-year partnership with The Sports Illustrated Group to serve as the presenting sponsor of the annual celebration.

Jet nightclub at the Mirage Hotel and Casino, Vanity at the Hard Rock Hotel Hotel and Casino and Tao in The Venetian will host events commemorating the launch of the 2010 swimsuit edition. The celebrations will kick off on February 10th with swimsuit models appearances and autographs sessions at Margaritaville at Flamingo Las Vegas (11 a.m. to 1 p.m), The Mirage Poker Room tournament (2 p.m. to 4 p.m) and The new Garden of the Gods Pool at Caesars Palace, followed by an exclusive party at Jet  featuring the Asian destinations used for the swimsuit shoots.

Models will also make public appearances on February 11th at The Mirage lobby (1 p.m. to 3 p.m), Le Cabaret at Paris Las Vegas (3 p.m. to 5 p.m) and Emeril Lagasse’s Stadium at the Palazzo Resort and Casino. Maroon 5 will perform at Club SI Swimsuit hosted by Vanity Nightclub in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on February 11th, closing with an after party at Tao Nightclub at 1 a.m.

The 2010 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue will launch on Feb. 10 on newsstands, online and on iPhones. For the third straight year, the cover of this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, along with the identity of the 2010 cover model, will be unveiled on the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday, February 8th at 11:35 p.m. ET.

The Venetian and The Palazzo Resort and Casino will welcome Chinese New Year and the Year of the Tiger with an authentic celebration featuring festive décor and traditional dragon and lion dances representing good luck and fortune and honoring the Year of the Tiger.

A series of Chinese New Year elements such as red envelopes and lanterns, gold coins, ornate red silk  and tangerine trees will be displayed  throughout both The Palazzo and Venetian Resort and Casino. In addition, The Palazzo Waterfall Atrium will be adorned with ceremonial décor, including a16.5-foot long custom-designed Tiger welcoming the resort’s visitors, six-foot custom-made red, orange and yellow lanterns, over-sized bamboo towers with fresh orchids and flowers, and gold I-Ching Coins representing an “abundance of wealth.” The main entrance to The Palazzo will also be decorated with I-Ching coins in multiples of eight welcoming good  fortune to guests. Decorations celebrating Chinese New Year will be presented through the third week of February.

The Chinese New Year celebrations will kick off on Saturday, February 13th at 3 p.m. with a ceremonial dragon and lion dance, which symbolizes good luck and prosperity for the year to come and is an important ritual of Chinese culture. The dance will be complete with firecrackers and eye painting ceremony. The colorful spectacle will also feature a parade of dancers and musicians dressed in traditional costumes and playing authentic Chinese music.

Celebrations will continue on Sunday, February 14th at 1 p.m with an additional dragon dance beginning in The Venetian Porte-Cochere. All dragon dances will be open to the public.

The free bus rides on all fixed-service routes will be offered as a way to reduce the amount of traffic and to keep intoxicated drivers off the streets. The free rides will run from 6:00 p.m. On Thursday, December 31st, and until 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 1st.

According to Southern Nevada transit officials, several routes will be detoured, including the Deuce bus along the Las Vegas Strip. RCT is going to offer free bus service from northwest Las Vegas to the downtown area on New Year’s Eve. The free service will take riders from Centennial Hills to Las Vegas Blvd. and Fremont Street. Buses will operate every 20 minutes starting at 5 p.m. until 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

There will be no bus service on the Las Vegas Strip as it will be closed for the celebration. Las Vegas Events and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) are expecting thousands of visitors and travelers on Las Vegas Strip for the “America’s Party: Las Vegas New Year 2010 “ pyrotechnic display set to kick right right after the New Years countdown. The fireworks will be launched from seven rooftop locations along the Las Vegas Strip, including the MGM Grand Hotel, Planet Hollywood Resort, Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, Venetian Resort and the Stratosphere Hotel, and will culminate an evening of celebrity-hosted parties and live music events taking place on Freemont St. and other locations in Las Vegas.
